The TTC is one step closer – to a strike (with much misery business)

Well after almost days of speculation of a TTC strike, it seems that the union is about to take that drastic step closer on preparing a strike. Negotiations have been very slow between the union and according to Bob Kinnear, the president of ATU local 113, it seems that a work-to-rule is not likely an option.
“We’ve had a lot of discussions with our negotiating committee and our membership and we have ruled (work-to-rule) out,” he said. “If there is any job action taken it will be a complete withdrawal of services.”
If the strike does go ahead as planned, the union will assure riders that they will be given at least 48 hours notice. The reaction was extremely mixed, but briefly after the announcement, the union president told the media that no 48-hour notice won’t be taken place at this time. He also wants Adam Giambrone, to take the role on negotiations.
“We’re asking TTC chair Adam Giambrone to step in and take over the negotiations for the next few days,” Kinnear announced. “We are prepared to talk into next week, but we do not believe we will get an agreement as long as [TTC general manager] Gary Webster is making the decisions.”
To finish this blog off, I’m leaving you “Misery Business” by Paramore. It’s one of my favourite songs from their album “RIOT!”. The reason that I selected this music video is that so much “Misery Business” has been involved between the union and the transit commission.
