R.I.P. Brain Battle
I have decided to write this posting about a once-popular show that was aired on Global every weekday mornings at 11:00a.m. (Eastern Time). The show is called “Brain Battle” and this show allows contestants from home to play from their comfort of their own homes. The topic is usally varies from movies, things and many other stuff.
In Brain Battle’s first run, there are two contestants who appear in the studio and they played for a few consecutive rounds. These rounds goes as follows:
The Chain Word – where both contestants see see 2 words, left and right of the screen. They have to find the word that connects both these words:
For example:
Closed XXXXX System
Hint: A system that is used in toll roads in which a driver is given this before entering the highway and pays upon exiting the toll highway.
Spell it right!! – the host pronounces a word. On the screen are 3 different spellings of the word and the contestants must know which one.
For example:
1) Pencilvanea
2) Pennsylvaneah
3) Pennsylvania
4) Pensylvainia
True of False – a statement appears. The contestant must know if it’s true of false.
For example:
Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior are the names of the Great Lakes.
Say it again! -
The presenter gives a word, which is also shown on screen. Under that word are 3 other words. The contestants have to know which of those 3 words means the same as the quiz word, in other words, are synonyms.
In this case:
Please pick a synonym for this word: Highway
Choices:
- Sky
- Road
- Fly
However, the studio version has been discontinued in favour of a “call for cash” version. There was a special big announcement mentioned in the show and that to every end is a new beginning. It is appeared that the new replacement for “Brain Battle” Timeshift Trivia. The show will be played in every time zone in Canada and if you guys have Digital Cable or Satellite, you can tune in for this new exciting game show! That new show will commence on Friday, August 22nd, 2008. Anyways, I wish the people who worked in the show and to Jason Agnew very well in this future game show. Mr. Agnew, if you are reading my blog, I’m leaving you a lyric from a band called Metro Station. The lyric is from a song called “Now that we are gone”:
Now that we’re done, I’m so sorry
Why did I lie, I’m so sorry
I know I hurt you
I know I hurt you
Also Jason, please don’t drink too much energy drinks when hosting the new game show. You will be ending up like Dave Faber of Faber Drive did. The explanation goes as follows:
On Friday May 23rd – well actually it was Saturday @ 4 am - I had a bit of a mishap.
Let me begin with earlier that eve. It was me and 3 of my long time friends who were celebrating one of our best friends stagg ( Michael T). We had gone to Kobe’s Japanese Steakhouse in Vancouver @ around 6pm and had a killer time drinkin Saki and Asahi Beer while eating the food of kings; steak, prawns, chicken, lobster etc. After the festive dinner we had reservations @ an improv comedy club for 10 o’clock. It was just as much fun if not more fun because the actors re-inacted Mikes proposal to his now wife, Laura, among various other off the cuff skits. Sooo funny!~ As the night progressed we were getting more and more intoxicated drinking all kinds of fun but things got a little hairy when we went back to our hotel on Granville Island. We cracked the mini bar and made a bunch of rum and cokes, and lined up the shots. I had an energy drink (full throttle Blue Demon) and some green tea pills as well as some appetite suppressants(Hoodia) that I had been taking for 2-3 weeks. Soon enough everybody passed out but me. I was laying in bed and I couldn’t sleep, but soon enough I started to get extremely itchy, then sweaty, and then my heart started racing. I started to feel a burning sensation in my chest that progressed up my neck and into my arm. I decided to get out of bed and try to take a leak in hopes that I would calm down a little- that didnt work! I started to feel dizzier and dizzier and my heart was still pounding and racing. I finally called out to my good friends who came in to the can to see what was up and saw me in a vicious sweat and totally dazed. They grabbed their cell phones and called 911. Within 10 minutes, 2 paramedics and 3 firemen(?) came running down the hall, layed me out on the bed and took my pulse, and a whack of other medical tests. They said that my heart was fast when they first came in, but that it was now slowing down. They said that they believed it was all the drinking, pills, and energy drinks that slammed my heart into overdrive! They stayed for roughly 30 minutes, and thought that I would be fine but they recommended I see my doctor within the next week. All and all, I learned my lesson on energy drinks, alcohol and appetite suppresants. Since then, I feel way better and I have been Mr. Excercise Guy, jogging, swimming, and push ups, but I will see my doc this week, I promise! Until next time, MODERATION is KEY!!!
God Bless!

Metro Station meanwhile, will be one of the opening acts for Simple Plan’s upcoming tour along with Cute is what we aim for and (my personal favourites) Faber Drive. More on that can be founded here.
